I love Las Vegas! And no I’m not a big gambler but I love that city. Recently, some blogger friends of mine when on a media tour around the city and they stopped at a place that I knew I needed to check our upon my arrival.
The Mob Museum. Yeah there’s a museum that talks about the mob as well as what the government did to shut them down.
COOLEST PLACE EVER! Let’s talk about it
Located near the Fremont Street Experience, the Mob Museum tells the history of the arrival of some of America’s Most Notorious in the early 1900’s to present day.
And yes the video cop does read you your rights in the elevator.
The Mob Museum tells the story of the Mob and Law Enforcement in the US from the early 1900’s to present day. And yes we’re talking about the big names, Capone, Lansky, Lepske, Gotti. And they include how they were brought down by the FBI.
Once you get past the lobby, your directed to start the tour on the third floor (oh wait, I need to let you know that you can take all the picture you want in this place BUT they ask that you don’t use flash on your camera). Once on the third floor, your transported back in time to the when the immigrants came to America and how some of them went rogue and their criminal empires began.
And there is everything in this place from paperwork (there’s lots of that which is why you can’t use flash photography) to wiretaps to surveillance to those that was undercover within the ranks to how they’re portrayed in the movies today.
Its one of the best museums that I have ever been to. If your into history, then this is a place to check out.
I highly recommend this place especially if your looking for something off the beaten path to do during you visit in Vegas. Their hours are 10-7 during the week and on the weekend till 8. Check them out at http://www.themobmuseum.org
