I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation with this post
for the Macy’s Martha Stewart event. But as always, all thoughts and opinions are always my own.
I love a well decorated house even when mine could use a bit of a push in that direction. I also haven’t always been a Martha Stewart fan, well at least not hard core. I respected her as a business woman but then, something changed. The way she decorated a place or planned a party, I slowly became a convert. So when I got the chance to see her in person, I jumped at the opportunity.
Mrs. Stewart came to Macys in San Francisco as part of the American Icons tour and she shared with us her latest book, Martha’s American food. A 400 page cookbook of some of America’s favorites that is a feast for both the eyes and the palette.
Upon arriving to the 6th floor you could see the table that was on the stage and it was perfectly set for a summer backyard event around the Fourth of July.
Before she arrived on stage, we were given the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living, the food issue as well as several copies of some of the recipes that she was going to make on stage. As we waited for her arrival, we were treated to her Deviled Eggs as well as her Pigs In a Blanket while enjoying her Red Zinger tea….yummy!
And then she arrived! Mrs Stewart and her assistant, Thomas, began working on some of the recipes while chatting with us about the book and gave us some very sage advice about alcohol…
“When you buy your liquor, make sure it’s 80 proof or above. 80 proof is what you want or why bother”
Such a wise woman LOL
I was also able to make a video on the alcoholic drink she made called Ginger Caipirinhas and here’s the recipe:
12 limes, quarter, plus thin wedges for serving
3/4 to 1 1/2 cups sugar
24 1/4 inch thick slices peeled ginger
1 bottle (750 ml) cachaca
she walks you through the rest and yes she had jokes.
